Make-up Designory: "Facility"

Enclosed by hundred year old floors and tin ceilings, Make-Up Designory has chosen a 19th century loft to house its New York facility.

Located in the heart of Soho on West Broadway, the facility offers contemporary learning environments, video and photography areas and a retail store.

The 5,000 square foot facility supports classrooms that were built to accommodate the school’s courses in beauty, character, special make-up effects, hair and wardrobe styling. In keeping with the integrity of the loft, the common student areas are all contained in a large free flowing space. The common areas include a photo/video area, store, library, restrooms, hair sinks and computer workstations. The most obvious feature of the common area is the large truss system that accommodates a professional video camera, flat screen monitor and lighting package. The photo and video area provide a professional environment for students to have their work photographed and as an area for instructors to critique student work as it is viewed on camera.

The classrooms are fully equipped to meet both the needs of the students and instructors. The classrooms are lit with special fluorescent lighting that allows the student to view their work in a simulated daylight environment. The temperature and even distribution of the lighting allows the student the best possible environment to match skin tones and view their work. The student utilities area is equipped with a sink, microwave ovens and a refrigerator. Make-up Designory’s administrative offices include administrative space for the School Director, financial services, admissions, registrar and career services.
The school is handicap accessible, and provides two accessible restrooms
